Occasionally, matters which relate to family law are prosecuted by the State of Utah as crimes. Domestic Violence can be prosecuted civilly through the family law court, or criminally under certain penal statutes. Failure to pay child support can be prosecuted civilly as a contempt of court and criminally under certain circumstances.
